A bill to implement the proposed addition of two elected seats on the Islands District Council and three elected seats on the Sai Kung District Council was passed in the Legislative Council today.
From 2008, the number of elected seats on the two councils will rise from eight to 10, and 20 to 23.
The Electoral Affairs Commission will proceed with the demarcation of constituency boundaries for the 2007 District Council election, taking on the revised seat numbers.
