Hong Kong and Macau can maintain long-term prosperity and stability, Premier Wen Jiabao says, adding the Central Government will continue implementing the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement with the two regions.

Delivering his government work report at the fourth session of the 10th National People's Congress in Beijing today, Premier Wen said the Central Authorities will remain steadfast in upholding 'one country, two systems', Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong and a high degree of automony.

Noting the Central Government will strictly adhere to the Basic Law, he also extended his staunch support to the Chief Executives of Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions in implementing policies according to the law.

Premier Wen said exchanges and co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong and Macau on aspects including trade, education, technology, culture, health and sports will be strengthened.
