Celebrate HKSAR's 8th birthday Friday!
*

The public are welcome to join celebrations marking the eighth anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on July 1.

A flag raising ceremony will be held at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai at 8am. Chief Executive Donald Tsang will join 800 guests and 1,000 members of the public at the ceremony.

Four plasma televisions and an LCD screen will be set up to facilitate public viewing of the ceremony where the Police band and a choir will be performing, followed by the disciplined services sea parade and fly-by.

The square and its vicinity will be designated a restricted zone by Police to ensure smooth running of the ceremony. Only holders of valid passes can enter.

Mr Tsang will later attend a reception at the Convention & Exhibition Centre. About 1,200 guests, including members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, consular corps, heads of missions in Hong Kong, senior Government officials and members of various community sectors, will attend.
