$1.5m in tsunami relief approved
*

The Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee has endorsed three Government grants worth $1.5 million for tsunami aid.

The Cedar Fund will receive $500,000 to provide relief to victims in India, while the Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry will receive two grants of $500,000 each for relief in Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

To ensure the money is used properly, the committee will ask the two organisations to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts.

The committee has approved nine applications from five agencies for tsunami relief, worth $22.5 million.
