6 law reform committee members named
*

The Financial Secretary has appointed six new members to the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform for a two-year term starting February 1. They are Teresa Ko, Godfrey Lam, Vanessa Stott, Carlson Tong, Paul Winkelmann and Patrick Wong.

Incumbent Chairman Benjamin Yu and six other non-official members - Randolph Sullivan, Peter Wong, William Tam, Michael Scales, John Poon and David Stannard - have been re-appointed for one to two years.

With the professional background and expertise of its members, the committee will work to maintain Hong Kong's position as an international business and financial centre, well-supported by companies legislation of an international standard and responsive to the needs of the business community.

The Government thanked the five outgoing members - Roger Best, Winston Poon, Alvin Wong, Richard Thornhill and Professor Stephen Cheung - for their contributions.
