The two-week nomination period for the by-election in the Tin Wan Constituency of the Southern District Council will run from October 7 to 20.
The by-election has been called to fill a seat that became vacant in early August after incumbent member Miu Wah-chang was disqualified from holding the office as a result of a court conviction.
If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on November 21.
Any registered geographical constituency electors aged 21 and above who have ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before the nomination may contest the by-election.
Nominees need support of 10 registered voters
A nominee must have 10 registered voters of the constituency sign his nomination form. Each voter is allowed to support only one nominee.
The nominated candidates must apply in person to the returning officer during business hours within the nomination period, to submit the completed nomination forms and the election deposit of $3,000.
The Southern District Officer has been appointed as the Returning Officer. His office is located at 1st floor, Ocean Court, 3 Aberdeen Praya Road, Aberdeen.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the Returning Officer, or from the Registration & Electoral Office on the10th floor, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai or 10th floor, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai.
