The electorate size for geographical constituencies has risen 4.97% to 3,207,227. The figure is up by 151,849, compared with the 3,055,378 registered electors in 2000.
The Registration & Electoral Office today released the final registers of electors which contain the names and residential addresses of people eligible to vote in the September 12 Legislative Council election.
A designated polling station will be allocated to an elector according to their registered address.
The distribution of electors in the five geographical constituencies is:
* Hong Kong Island - 618,451;
* Kowloon East - 524,896;
* Kowloon West - 420,259;
* New Territories East - 770,590; and,
* New Territories West - 873,031.
Functional constituencies up 13.6%
The final register for the 28 functional constituencies carried 199,539 electors, up 23,933 or 13.63% over the number of registered in 2000.
Apart from registration of new electors, 603,585 existing records have been updated in geographical constituencies with 4,887 updates in functional constituencies.
Hard copies of the final registers for geographical constituencies are available for public inspection at:
* the Registration & Electoral Office (10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai); and,
* all District Offices (only that section of the register which includes electors of the geographical constituency concerned is available).
The functional constituency register can be inspected at:
* the Registration & Electoral Office (10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; and 10/F Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai); and,
* the Central & Western, Yau Tsim Mong, Kwun Tong, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan District Offices.
