New strategies to promote Basic Law set

New promotion strategies have been formulated after taking into account public discussions and calls on how best the Basic Law should be promoted.

This was the message from Chief Secretary Donald Tsang, who is also  the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee chairman.

Officiating at a Basic Law quiz today, Mr Tsang said the principles and contents of the Basic Law will be publicised in a comprehensive manner so as to enable the public to have a better grasp of the 'One Country, Two Systems' concept.

Another promotional strategy is to integrate national civic education with our promotional efforts to help the public understand better the nation's history, constitution and the social system.

The committee will also strengthen co-operation with non-governmental organisations, and encourage the general public to take part in the Basic Law promotional activities.
