Two forums on the National People's Congress Standing Committee's decision on issues relating to the methods for selecting the Chief Executive in 2007 and for forming the Legislative Council in 2008 will be held on April 26.
The committee's Deputy Secretary-General Qiao Xiaoyang, Deputy Director of the Commission of Legislative Affairs Li Fei, and HK & Macau Affairs Office Vice-Minister Xu Ze have been invited to address the two forums.
They are jointly organised by the Government and the HK Liaison Office of the Central People's Government.
The first session will be held at 5pm at the International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay. Participants come from various sectors of community including Hong Kong National People's Congress deputies, and local Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee members.
The second session will be held at 7.15pm at Government House. Participants comprise Principal Officials, Executive Councillors and legislators, and District Council heads.
At a meeting of standing committee officials on April 19, it was decided the report on Hong Kong's constitutional development submitted by the Chief Executive will be deliberated at the meeting held from April 25 to 26.
