Applications from 39 organisations and individuals to register their names, abbreviations and emblems for the Legislative Council Election this September may get approval from the Electoral Affairs Commission, while four emblem registrations may be turned down.
The commission has received 45 applications, 36 from organisations and nine from individuals. One organisation and three individuals subsequently withdrew their applications for emblem registration.

Anyone can object to the granting of an application for registration of an abbreviation or an emblem within 14 days. Objection forms are available from district offices, the Registration & Electoral Office, and the commission's website.
The commission will conduct hearings to gather views and evidence before deciding whether the objection should be allowed or rejected.
Successful applications will be gazetted by July 22, and details will be available at the Registration & Electoral Office website.
