Constitutional reform 2nd report ready soon: CE

*
Tung Chee Hwa meets with Mainland officials
Frank and open: Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa exchanges views with Mainland officials at Government House.
*

The report on principles relating to constitutional development will be ready in a few days, and a decision to facilitate the planning of the next stage of work will be made soon.

This is the message from Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa at a meeting with Mainland officials tonight.

Mr Tung met with Standing Committee Deputy Secretary-General Qiao Xiaoyang, Vice Chairman of the Commission of Legislative Affairs Li Fei, and HK & Macau Affairs Office Deputy Director Xu Ze at Government House.

He thanked them for their detailed explanations regarding the issue, and said their visit has been successful. He said Hong Kong people welcome the exchanges and he hopes more will come.

Mr Tung said Hong Kong people are highly concerned with the Government's work after the committee delivered its interpretations of the two Basic Law annexes.

Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang, who also heads the Constitutional Development Task Force, will submit the group's second report to the Chief Executive in the next few days.

Mr Tung said he will study it in detail during the Easter holiday before mapping out the next stage of work.
