The Central Government remains steadfast in ensuring our long-term prosperity and stability, and has full confidence in Hong Kong's future.

This was the message from Premier Wen Jiabao, who delivered a report on the Central Government work at the second session of the 10th National People's Congress in Beijing today.

Premier Wen reiterated his full support to Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa.

He said the Mainland will act in strict accordance with the Basic Law, and adhere to principles such as One Country, Two Systems, HK people ruling HK, and maintaining a high degree of automony.

The Mainland will also unite as broadly as possible people from all walks of life here, and implement the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement effectively, he added.
