Judicial appointment for Michael Lunn
*

Court of First Instance Recorder Michael Victor Lunn, SC, will take up office as the court's Judge from September 15, the Judiciary announced today.

 

The appointment has been made by the Chief Executive on the advice of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.

 

Born in Zimbabwe in 1950, Mr Lunn obtained B.A. (Law) and a M.A. degree from Cambridge University in 1972 and 1976 respectively. He was called to the English Bar (Inner Temple) in 1973 and the HK Bar in 1981. In 1994, he was appointed Queen's Counsel.

 

Mr Lunn was in private practice in the UK from 1974 to 1977 and worked in the Attorney-General's Chambers in Hong Kong from 1977 to 1981. From 1982 to 2003, he was in private practice in Hong Kong.

 

He was also the HK Bar Association Vice-Chairman from January 2001 to January 2003 and was appointed as a Court of First Instance Recorder in 2000.
