Gov't welcomes court's ruling on pay cut
*

Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong has welcomed the High Court's ruling today on the civil service pay cut by legislation.

He also reiterated that the pay cut decision is reasonable and fair.

Mr Wong said the ruling shows the Government has done the right thing, adding that the pay cut decision has taken into account the interests of both civil servants and the community at large.

A bill on the civil service pay reduction in two phases has been introduced to the Legislative Council. Mr Wong hoped the council will handle the bill expeditiously so that the pay cut can be implemented on or before January 1 next year.

The administration will always look into civil service policy, he added.
