Traditional clothes go on show

Past presence:  This tiger hat is one of the traditional children's items on show at the Heritage Museum.

The Heritage Museum will open an exhibition on traditional Chinese children's clothing tomorrow.

 

Running until March 21, the show features more than 200 items, comprising headwear, dresses, aprons, waistcoats and footwear, and accessories like pendants from the late Qing dynasty to the Republican period.

 

Opening the exhibition today, Under Secretary for Home Affairs Florence Hui said it sheds light on traditional Chinese culture that embraces blessings through children's clothing.

 

Also on display will be the designs of the Polytechnic University’s Textiles & Clothing Institute.

 

The exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion.
