There have been six cases of people needing counselling as a result of the Occupy Central protests, Social Welfare Department psychologists said today.
Chief Clinical Psychologist Helios Lau outlined the psychological effects the protests are having on people during a press conference today and noted that the number of those asking for help is not large.
He said most people’s symptoms are mild and are expected to pass in a week or so, while some can relieve the symptoms themselves using stress relief techniques.
Mr Lau added that he does not expect a big rise in the number of people seeking help.
Assistant Commissioner for Transport Albert Su said at the press conference that since major roads are still being occupied by protesters there was serious traffic congestion at a number of locations on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon this morning. The total length of the traffic queues was about 24km.
Principal Assistant Secretary for Education Sophia Wong meanwhile, said that all kindergarten classes in the Wan Chai and Central & Western districts would remain suspended tomorrow.
