The Centre for Health Protection has learned of a human case of avian influenza A (H5N6) in Hubei.
The 35-year-old male patient fell ill on April 9 and is in critical condition.
The Mainland has reported 11 H5N6 cases since 2014.
The centre urged the public to maintain strict personal, food and environmental hygiene both locally and during travel.
