The Centre for Health Protection is monitoring eight newly reported Middle East Respiratory Syndrome cases in Korea.
They include three patients of the Samsung Medical Centre emergency department; an Asan Medical Centre patient; a visitor to Yeouido St Mary's Hospital; two Hallym University Medical Centre patients; and a Konyang University Hospital patient. They all had had contact with a confirmed patient.
To date, Korea has reported 94 MERS case , and another case was exported from Korea to Mainland China.
The centre reminds people to consider the health risks of the places they plan to visit and to avoid unnecessary visits to healthcare facilities in places at risk for MERS.
It will maintain close communication with the World Health Organisation and the health authority of Korea.
