The food safety order deadline for recalling lard and lard products manufactured by Taiwan’s Chang Guann Company ended at noon yesterday. Traders concerned should report the recall to the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department within two working days.
The Centre for Food Safety issued the order on September 14 under the Food Safety Ordinance, to ban the above products, and all food products made with them, manufactured on or after March 1.
Traders in breach of the order can be fined up to $100,000 and jailed 12 months.
The centre said the recall has been largely smooth and it will announce the results when it is completed. The final list of traders concerned will also be uploaded to its webpage later.
