Athletes' achievements lauded

At a ceremony to welcome the return of the athletes of the Hong Kong, China delegation to the 2012 London Olympic Games today, Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing said they had shown no fear of challenges and strived for excellence, demonstrating the Hong Kong spirit.
He thanked the athletes, the coaches and other staff in the delegation, especially cycling coach Shen Jin-kang, after cyclist Lee Wai-sze took bronze in the women's Keirin event.
Ms Lee said the cycling team had given it their all, and she would continue to work hard in future. She thanked her coach Mr Shen and reporters for their hard work.
She also thanked the Government for its support. She said different sports require different types of support, and she hopes Hong Kong will have more international sports venues.
She also encouraged local people to do more exercise, to improve their health.
Coach Shen said the pre-games training plan was difficult but Ms Lee had been brave, and put in the effort it took to win a medal. He noted the team working behind him and Ms Lee is professional.
