Urban sites sought for HOS
August 04, 2012
Chief Executive CY Leung said his team and several departments are looking for urban sites to build Home Ownership Scheme flats, as new land cannot be developed in the short term.
Speaking to the media after appearing on a television programme today, Mr Leung said the scheme is an important part of the housing system and is most people’s first step in buying a flat, so he will resume it as promised.
The number of flats provided will depend on scientific evaluation and land supply.
Meanwhile, he said three years is enough time for the Government to explain the policy on national education, and for schools to prepare for the curriculum.
He reiterated that teaching materials are set by schools. The Government will provide reference teaching materials like other subjects, which will be viewable online.
He said some schools have chosen to launch national studies in the first year, and the public can judge it at that time.
