The Communications Authority will withdraw all the frequencies assigned to ATV when its free TV licence expires on April 2, 2016.
ATV’s fixed carrier licence was scheduled to expire on November 30, 2018. However, given the Government’s decision not to renew its free TV licence, the station must cease broadcasting from April 2, 2016.
To ensure efficient use of spectrum as a public resource and to promote competition in the communications market, the authority said it will assign ATV's frequencies to other licensees.
The authority will announce the assignment arrangement for the frequencies prior to the spectrum becoming available next year.
