Secretary for the Environment KS Wong visited the Lantern Wonderland at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay today, and called on the public to avoid food waste while celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival.
While there, Mr Wong visited the giant moon-shaped lantern "Rising Moon" at Lantern Wonderland, which is made from 7,000 recycled water bottles and uses LED light bulbs.
He also offered practical suggestions for reducing waste during the holiday, such as making estimates of how many dishes are really needed at gatherings, cooking the right portions, and donating excess food to food recycling organisations.
During the festival, the Food Wise campaign's Big Waster character will visit different venues with rapper Kevin Tong to remind the public to reduce food waste.
