Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says the Government will listen to the public and legislators regarding the co-location arrangement for the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
Mr Yuen made the statement in response to media questions today after a special meeting of the Legislative Council House Committee.
When asked if a public consultation will be launched on the co-location arrangement, he said a consultation is not the only way to seek views and the Government will not rule out other approaches to communicating with the community and legislators.
He said the Government is consolidating the feedback collected on the issue last week, adding it will follow up on constructive suggestions to improve the plan.
The Government will not compromise the "one country, two systems" principle and the Basic Law for economic benefits or convenience.
He added there is no political agenda behind the plan. Its sole purpose is to unleash the full potential of the railway system to strengthen Hong Kong's competitiveness as a transport hub.
