Core values to be upheld: CE

Chief Executive CY Leung has vowed to ensure Hong Kong’s core values, like human rights, freedom, democracy, the rule of law and clean governance, are upheld.

 

Mr Leung made the pledge while concluding his 2016 Policy Address today.

 

He also promised to fully and faithfully implement the principles of “one country, two systems”, “Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong” and a high degree of autonomy, in accordance with the Basic Law.

 

"In the year ahead, to make the best use of the new opportunities arising from the 13th Five-Year Plan, the Belt & Road Initiative, as well as innovation and technology, all of us must join forces to work for the short, medium and long-term development of Hong Kong."

 

He also promised the best efforts of himself and his administration to promote mutual understanding among all sectors and walks of life to benefit all parties and enhance social harmony and stability.

 

As Hong Kong stands united and seizes every opportunity to implement the various policy initiatives and proposals, he said it will have a new and stronger impetus for economic growth. Living quality will continue to improve and the community will become more harmonious.

 

"People from all walks of life will be able to share the fruits of prosperity."
