Chief Executive CY Leung tells reporters that the Government is considering the membership of the commission of inquiry into the lead-tainted water issue and will make an announcement once it is decided.
Meeting the media ahead of an Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung said the commission will have powers different from those of the Legislative Council, and it will not have any political consideration, so he hoped the commission could start work soon.
Mr Leung noted that a task force established earlier to look into the matter has already started its work to find the cause of the problem.
In response to a question relating to a media report that says he has given instructions to the Planning Department on a Discovery Bay development proposal, Mr Leung said land planning in Hong Kong follows set procedures and involves various Government departments, adding that any proposal to change land use must go through the Town Planning Board.
