Chief Executive CY Leung urged people to consider a polling organisation’s political background, professional level and past record in analysing poll results.
He made the comment in reference to a poll held by three universities that found for the first time the percentage of respondents opposed to the constitutional reform proposal was higher than those who backed it.
Speaking at the airport after returning from a visit to North America, he said the poll questions from different polling organisations were different, leading to different results and trends.
Only two people mentioned the political reform package during his trip, he said, noting they both supported it. No one asked about the Occupy Central movement, nor the chance it might start up again.
