Chief Executive CY Leung has said it is the Government's responsibility to reach out to the community and explain its political reform proposals directly to the people.
He stressed that the proposals concern the rights of five million eligible voters in the 2017 elections.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur today, Mr Leung said Hong Kong is a civilised society and he urged those who oppose the reform package to express their opinions in a civilised way, rather than disrupting government promotional events.
The Chief Executive added that he did not want the publicity events to cause chaos, damage to local shops, or result in residents getting hurt.
