Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen said today that the Government will continue reaching out to the community to promote its political reform proposals.
Speaking to reporters after appearing on a radio programme this morning, Mr Yuen explained why officials did not step off the bus during a parade through various districts yesterday.
He noted that they did not want a repeat of the chaos in Mei Foo during an earlier promotional event and decided to stay on the bus to avoid causing chaos or bystanders getting hurt.
Mr Yuen said yesterday’s campaign could still fulfil its goal of raising people’s awareness of the Government’s reform package.
Regarding a High Court ruling on the judicial review lodged by Hong Kong Television Network, Mr Yuen said the Department of Justice would seek legal advice from an independent senior counsel and submit it to the Chief Executive-in-Council before making any decision on whether to appeal.
