The Government calls on all sectors of the community to forge a consensus so that 5 million eligible voters can elect the Chief Executive by universal suffrage through 'one person, one vote' in 2017.
In a statement issued in response to a public procession today, the Government also noted that it had published a consultation document on the method for selecting the Chief Executive by universal suffrage on January 7. It launched a two-month public consultation to consult the community on issues relating to the Chief Executive election by universal suffrage that same day.
People are urged to adopt an accommodating, rational and pragmatic approach, and an inclusive attitude, to express their views.
