Chief Secretary Carrie Lam has called on pan-democratic legislators to drop their opposition to the political reform package and table a proposal based on the National People's Congress Standing Committee's decisions.
Speaking to media after attending a political reform forum today, Mrs Lam said the Government will consider any suggestion that is constitutional, legal, reasonable and rational.
The Government will continue to lobby for the democrats' support, she added.
Mrs Lam said the committee's decision that each Chief Executive candidate must have the endorsement of more than half of all nominating committee members is prudent and reasonable, adding Hong Kong needs a chief executive who represents the interests of the whole community.
