Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says achieving political reform seems like a “mission impossible”, and urged pan-democratic legislators to take into account the public’s wish to have universal suffrage for the Chief Executive election in 2017.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Yuen said the pan-democrats had said they will boycott this round of political reform consultation and reject the upcoming Government proposal. He urged them to reconsider their position.
When discussing Prof Albert Chen’s blank vote proposal, Mr Yuen said blank votes must be defined by law, so as to avoid confusion with invalid votes.
The constitutional development task force will meet with Prof Chen to learn about his proposal's underlying vision and design details, he added.
