Director of Administration Kitty Choi said the Government has made its best effort to communicate with staff working at the Central Government Offices regarding the building’s temporary closure today.
She said at a press conference that protesters gathering outside the complex held different views on whether to allow access for Government staff to go to work and they were not able to compromise.
The Government informed CGO staff from 6am this morning that they should wait for further notification on whether they should go to work, she said.
At 7.18am, staff were told they could come into work as a group of protesters had agreed to allow them access.
Ms Choi said the Government did not expected protesters to then disagree on the matter and eventually keep all access roads to the building blocked. Therefore, the Government had to close the building for the day.
