Chief Executive CY Leung condemned some lawmakers’ "uncivilised" behaviour after they hurled objects and insults during a Legislative Council question and answer session this morning. He urged the council to handle the issue seriously.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Mr Leung said the Government respects the council but said members who use insulting words against officials and throw objects at them affect LegCo's image - and Hong Kong's.
Such actions also obstruct the council’s normal operation, jeopardise the relationship between the executive authorities and the legislature, and fail to meet people’s expectations of LegCo.
He stressed the council should handle this behaviour seriously, to restore LegCo's normal operation, and to protect officials' and LegCo members' dignity.
