Typhoon names revised

Three tropical cyclones in the western North Pacific and South China Sea have been renamed. Pakhar, Doksuri and Haikui will replace Matsa, Nabi and Longwang which all took place in 2005.

Pakhar, suggested by Laos, is a freshwater fish living in the lower Mekong River. Doksuri, suggested by South Korea, is a bird of prey, while Haikui, suggested by China, is a sea anemone.

A country or region having suffered serious damage from a typhoon can propose to have its name removed from the tropical cyclone name list.
