Talent on tap: Hideboh will head his tap-dance troupe STRiPES for a series of Hong Kong shows in August.

Japanese tap-dance troupe STRiPES will perform Funk-a-Step in August, blending hip hop with Stomp-like African drumming.

STRiPES was founded by Hideboh who studied with tap master Henry LeTang in the US before returning to Japan to work as a tap-dance instructor and a choreographer.

Funk-a-Step will be staged August 24 to 26 at the Cultural Centre, and August 27 at Tuen Mun Town Hall. Tickets are $90 to $180 at URBTIX outlets. The elderly, the disabled, students and welfare recipients get a half-price discount.
