The Immigration Department has received four requests for help from Hong Kong people stranded in Europe due to flight cancellations from the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
As at noon today the department's Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit had received 168 enquiries, mainly on flight information.
The department urges those affected to contact airlines for latest flight information.
Meanwhile, it is liaising with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, and Chinese embassies and consulates in Europe to help Hong Kong residents. The assistance includes information, aiding contact with family and providing funds for urgent needs.
Residents outside Hong Kong can call the 24-hour hotline (852)1868 for assistance.
