A 25-year-old man holding an immigration recognisance form was jailed for 20 months by Sha Tin Magistracy yesterday for working illegally.

He entered Hong Kong unlawfully in October, and was arrested and later released on recognisance. He was found working at a Lau Fau Shan recycling site during a January 19 anti-illegal work operation.

Meanwhile, Immigration officers raided 18 locations yesterday and arrested two men and three women, aged 19 to 44, for working illegally. One of the women was a holder of recognisance form. Three employers were apprehended.

In another operation on nine locations in the New Territories, including restaurants, grocery stalls and retailers, Immigration and Labour Department officers arrested five more women, aged 21 to 33, for illegal work, and seven employers.
