Police have arrested 12 drivers for drink-driving offences during a citywide anti-drink driving crackdown from March 12 to 15.
Seven of them were then found to have proportions of alcohol in their breath exceeding the prescribed limit and will be charged. During the four-day blitz, 1,423 drivers had been breath-tested.
Since the Road Traffic Legislation (Amendment) Ordinance 2008 took effect on February 9 last year, Police have breath-tested 51,750 drivers. Of them, 281 were arrested for having proportions of alcohol that exceeded the prescribed limit or for refusing to be tested.
Drink-driving is liable to a fine of up to $25,000, three years in jail and 10 driving-offence points.
