Police arrested six drivers for drink-driving offences during a citywide operation from February 20 to 23.

They were found to have exceeded the legal alcohol limit and will be charged. During the four-day operation 1,212 drivers were breath-tested.

Since the Road Traffic Legislation (Amendment) Ordinance 2008 took effect on February 9 last year, 48,696 drivers have been tested, with 267 arrested.

Drink driving warrants three years' jail and a $25,000 fine.
