A woman was fined $42,000 and ordered to do 160 hours' community service by Kwun Tong Magistracy today for underpaying wages to her maid.

She failed to give the minimum allowable wage of $3,480 as set out in the employment contract. The total amount underpaid was $15,360.

Employees owed wages should call the Labour Department on 2815 2200.
