Police arrested five drivers for drink-driving offences during a citywide crackdown from January 29 to February 1.
Either the alcohol found in their breath exceeded the prescribed limit or they refused to be tested. During the four-day blitz, 1,048 drivers took breath tests.
Since the Road Traffic Legislation (Amendment) Ordinance 2008 took effect on February 9 last year, 45,355 drivers had been breath-tested. Of them, 245 were arrested.
Those found guilty of drink-driving are liable to a fine of up to $25,000, three years in jail and 10 driving-offence points.
