Police issued 163 fixed-penalty tickets and 137 summonses to people violating traffic regulations during Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day yesterday.

Up to 11pm, 201 officers patrolled traffic accident blackspots, issuing 136 fixed-penalty tickets for parking offences, and cautioning 225 pedestrians for jaywalking and other minor offences.

A total of 1,995 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred in the region last year.
