High Court Recorders appointed

The Judiciary has appointed two Recorders of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, Horace Wong and Anderson Chow. Their appointments are from January 1, for a three-year term.

 

The Chief Executive made the appointments on the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission's advice.

 

Biographical notes

Horace Wong was born in 1960 in Hong Kong, and obtained his law degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1983, and his  P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1984. He obtained his Master's degree in law from the University of Cambridge in 1985.  He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1984. He was appointed as Senior Counsel in 2004, and appointed as Deputy Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court for periods in 2008 and 2009.

 

Anderson Chow was born in 1964 in Hong Kong, and obtained his law degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1986, and his P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1987. He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1987 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1995.  He was appointed as Senior Counsel in 2004, and appointed as Deputy Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court for a period in 2009.

 

Both men are currently in private practice.
