Twenty-three drivers were arrested for drink-driving during a five-day police crackdown that ended today.
Among those arrested, 20 were found to have proportions of alcohol in their breath that exceeded the prescribed limit or refused to be tested. They would be charged with the relevant offences, the police said.
Since the amendment of the road traffic legislation in February and up to December 16, 259 drivers have failed the screening breath tests or refused to be tested, and 207 of them were arrested.
