The Security Bureau and Mainland authorities are discussing implementation arrangements which will allow Hong Kong residents' "overage children" to apply for one-way permits.
The bureau made the announcement today after it was confirmed Macau residents' overage children could apply for one-way permits from December 1.
The Central Government has decided the policy measure regarding Macau, including the eligibility criteria, will largely apply to Hong Kong.
According to the Basic Law, Mainland residents who wish to come to Hong Kong must obtain permission from the Public Security Bureau's Exit & Entry Administration Offices, while those who wish to enter Hong Kong for settlement must apply for a one-way permit.
