Employer fined for underpaying helper

An employer of a foreign domestic helper has been fined $90,000 by Tsuen Wan Magistracy for underpaying the maid's wages.

 

The employer failed to pay according to the minimum allowable wage set out by the Government. The total amount of outstanding wages was $39,300.

 

The Labour Department said the offence warrants three years' jail and a $350,000 fine.
