*
Hong Kong Police

An 80-year-old man has died after a heavy goods vehicle apparently hit and ran over him in Kowloon City.

The 54-year-old driver of the truck was travelling west on Waterloo Road, just past the junction of Pui Ching Road, when he reportedly struck the senior as he was crossing the road at about 9am.

The man was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 9.20am.

The driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was released on bail.

Police urge anyone who saw the accident to call 2773 5211.
