High flyers: Government Flying Service helicopters will go on show at the department's open day November 8.

*

The Government Flying Service will hold an open day November 8, giving the public a close look at its aircraft, aircrew and operations.

It will be held at GFS' headquarters at Hong Kong International Airport with entry times at 10am, noon and 2pm.

The day will see flying demonstrations from GFS' J41 fixed-wing plane, and its Dolphin and Super Puma helicopters, which participated in the Sichuan earthquake rescue operations.

Search and rescue, and engineering maintenance equipment will be shown, and there will be exhibitions and game stalls provided by Government departments and voluntary organisations.

There will also be performances by the Police Dog Unit, Civil Aid Service Band and Motorcycle Team, and the Air Cadet Corps Ceremonial Squadron.

Free tickets will be available at District Office public enquiry service centres from October 22. For details click here.
