Police will hold a citywide campaign to promote safe cycling from April 21 to 29.
For the first four days, Police will distribute publicity leaflets in areas frequented by cyclists, such as cycling tracks, railway stations and shops using bicycles to deliver takeout goods.
Food delivery workers, their employers and other people will be reminded that cyclists must obey all traffic laws applied to drivers. Offenders will be given verbal warnings while motorists will be reminded to be vigilant of cyclists.
Stringent enforcement action will be taken against offenders from April 25 to 29. Common offences include carrying a passenger, an animal or article which obstructs the cyclist's view, riding on the pavement and riding without lights.
There were 333 traffic accidents involving bicycles in the year's first three months, down 5.1% on the same period last year.
